Rodney this time next year – we’ll be millionaires

What could possibly go wrong?

Over at Lucidity we’re advocates, champions and encouragers of innovation.

We’ve seen that with the right skills and support people can achieve far more than they ever think possible.

We help you to hold back from killing ideas because ‘we tried it before’ or ‘that’s not the way we do things here’ or ‘we’ll never get budget’. We help you look for opportunities to solve problems for your customers and in turn their customers. We help you consider every idea, seek inspiration in unlikely places and combine eclectic ideas to create something new.

We make introductions and connections. Join the dots. Broker partnerships.

We prototype, test and adapt. And repeat. And repeat. And repeat.

We help you get all your stakeholders on board and involve the end-user in the design of your product and service innovation.

For us, innovation is a long-term business strategy that begins with people. We help you commit. Build resilience. Stay focussed.

However we have no tolerance for mindless optimism. For poorly thought through ideas. For vanity projects.

You must absolutely pay attention to a gut feeling. But if you still have to do the math. You have to know your numbers, your market, the size and value of the opportunity. You have to assess the risk. Understand your customers. You have to find a way to be objective. You should have a plan B.

According to Forbes 9 out of 10 startups fail.  And we’ve seen individuals and organisations fail because of mindless optimism.

Simply having a hunch and nothing else is the same as Del Boy Trotter telling the hapless Rodney that his mate Jumbo has offered him a big earner opportunity in his company in Australia and that, ‘Rodney this time next year we’ll be millionaires”.
